Individual Consultations for Children and Adolescents

I offer a safe space for exploring emotions, feelings, and situations in which a child feels uncomfortable or unsure how to cope. The goal is to develop a better understanding of relationships and of oneself. Through modelling, children can become aware of both conscious and hidden emotions, gain deeper insight into their own patterns, and find ways to handle challenging situations and build more effective coping strategies.

Working with clay is inherently therapeutic, and with sensitive guidance it has strong potential for individual growth. It can support children in finding their own way of working with themselves and navigating different life situations.

A consultation typically proceeds as follows: the client recounts their story and describes a situation that occupies their thoughts, including all key people involved. Together, we then identify the important relationships within that story. The client models each person as they perceive them and places the figures on a prepared board so that their positions reflect how close or distant they feel from one another. It is essential that one of the figures represents the client themselves.

Relationships can be modelled in different emotional states—for example, how the person feels when content versus when anxious. By comparing these compositions, discrepancies that often remain hidden in everyday life can become visible. We then reflect on the compositions together, discussing unexpected elements and the kinds of paradoxes that frequently appear in relationships.

No artistic talent is required. The aim is simply to imprint feelings into the clay and create simple forms that express the emotional experience of a situation.

Working with the hands helps children naturally express their inner experiences and communicate more clearly what they are going through. Together, we interpret these expressions and connect them to the relevant situations. This process helps children and adolescents recognize and understand aspects of their lives that previously felt unclear or confusing.

I recommend bringing an older T-shirt with you to work so that the creator doesn’t have to worry about it getting dirty from the clay.
